December 3134.
For over two years now, the Hyperpulse Generator network has been inoperable, plunging the Republic of the Sphere and the rest of the Inner Sphere into darkness. Throughout it all, the Exarch of the Republic, Damien Redburn, had tried to lead his people with strength and honor.
But now it is time for Redburn to step down. Calling all of the Paladins to Terra, he opens the conclave that will elect his successor. Politics is never simple, though, and the tragedy that strikes the Republic in the opening days of the conclave soon leads Paladins Jonah Levin and Heather GioAvanti into places they'd rather not go. The resulting investigation could lead to the highest levels of power and topple the already precarious government.
Yet the two Paladins must not waver in their investigation, no matter where it leads them. For upon this election rests the very future of the Republic and if unsavory elements are allowed to influence the new Exarch, the entire Inner Sphere may be doomed.
