Task Force Serpent travels deep into the unknown reaches of the Periphery, a massive military convoy with one goal in mind: the utter annihilation of Clan Smoke Jaguar.
But now their leader is dead. Someone has murdered Morgan Hasek-Davion, threatening the fragile unity of the task force. General Ariana Winston of the Eridani Light Horse mercenary brigade assumes command of the mission and the investigation into Morgan's death. Soon, however, she will be faced with the toughest assignment of her career.
It falls to Task Force Serpent to invade Huntress, the very home of the Smoke Jaguars, and eliminate their capacity for war. The fate of the Inner Sphere rests in their hands.
