Like a Capellan from the ashes...

Like a Capellan from the ashes, we arise.

After entirely too long away, I am back and ready to continue the mission I've set for myself here at the ComStar Historical Archives. Things have been kind of hectic in the past few months, both at work and in my personal life, so I haven't been able to devote as much time as I would like to the site. My life is returning to a semblance of normality, however, and soon things here should get back into a steady groove. I already have a handful of entries to post and I'll start trickling them out over the next week or so. After that, I hope to post one or two big entries per week, with some minor, usually related, entries sprinkled in between.

I have also added (actually I did this a couple of weeks ago) the novel Flight of the Falcon to the timeline and I have the following books on deck to add within the next week or so: Ghost War, A Call to Arms, Blood of the Isle, and Tactics of Duty. I have already begun tackling the FedCom Civil War timeline, which will be a lot of fun, covering as it does 9 novels and one huge sourcebook. That should go a long way towards filling in the biggest gap in my timeline: the post-Great Refusal period.

I actually have some big plans for the timeline part of this site, but they will have to wait until I can finish researching every sourcebook and novel. I'm currently waffling on whether I should go back and double-check the notes I originally took to compile the timeline; those notes were taken around 8-10 years ago and my research standards weren't quite as high as they are now. I don't want to say too much right now, but I think the final result will be cool.

This isn't linked anywhere off the main page just yet, and its design doesn't match the rest of the site, but here's a page I put up yesterday detailing info on the founding Clan Khans. Hope you find it interesting and useful and let me know if you see anything that needs correcting.

Whew, kind of long-winded. Sorry 'bout that.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I haven't abandoned the site and things should start gearing up again any day now. I'd like to thank everyone who continues to visit my site and also encourage you all to contribute entries. I'm by no means an expert on every part of the BattleTech universe (or even a small part) so some of the entries will probably always be sparse if only written by me. But I'm no glory hound, so I welcome and appreciate any contributions you folks would like to make. If you'd prefer just to read, that's okay too!

And don't forget to stop by the source pages and rank them! Or, if you see a source page that I haven't written a summary for yet, why not contribute one? I'm working on getting a scanner soon so I will start adding cover scans when I do.

A final note: I hope everyone has checked out the new BattleCorps site, which launched a couple of weeks ago. It's shaping up to be quite a good place to read and discuss the latest fiction and I wish them great success!

To tide you over until I start posting entries again, how about a poll?
