Kind of a long update!
Lots of stuff to talk about this time. Try not to fall asleep!
So I've been a busy little bee the last few weeks, making a lot of minor changes behind the scenes to support some of the public changes I have made or am going to make soon. Unfortunately, that means I haven't had the time to write any entries, but I expect to have at least one done by the end of the week (I have one that's currently about 80% written and another one that is almost fully researched) and then I plan to adopt a more methodical approach to writing. By the end of this week, definitely by early next week, I will start rereading the three Camacho's Caballeros novels and compiling the info to write a bunch of related entries so I can get them all done in fairly short order. After that, I'm thinking of doing the same for the Gray Death novels and sourcebooks. And then I'm thinking about tackling the FedCom Civil War, which kind of fills me with dread.
Among the changes made here recently, I finally got around to implementing something I had intended from the beginning: the source list page can be filtered to only show novels, sourcebooks, or both. Hopefully, that makes the page a little more useful. The list is also color-coded to indicate unreleased products; they are the ones with release dates in red. Speaking of sources, I've updated the pages for upcoming books to reflect the latest info as reported at CBT. They recently reworked the way they announce the schedule for new products, so things have shifted around a bit. I have also got nearly all of my source material scanned and the covers up on their respective pages. The only ones missing are either books I don't own or boxed sets, which are slightly too big for my scanner, so I have to piece them together. They are therefore taking a little longer.
I've added three novels to the chronology pages: A Call to Arms, Blood of the Isle and Hunters of the Deep. I've got a couple more in the pipeline and will try to get them up as soon as possible.
If you haven't yet checked out BattleCorps, I highly recommend it. They are putting out some good short fiction and some really good stuff is coming. It was recently announced that a new series would begin soon, starting with a story from Ilsa Bick, about the proliferation of BattleMech technology throughout the nations of the Inner Sphere during the Age of War. Should be good. Also, for you Stackpole fans, there's going to be a story from him in about a month. And just last week, the BattleCorps folks launched an online chatroom. Fire up your browser and come on over. In the few days it's been active, we've already had several writers drop by for a while. So if you haven't already, sign up and join the fun!
Lastly, I neglected to announce the latest poll, which went up over a week ago. This time around I'm wondering what you all think the fate of Clan Wolverine (aka the Minnesota Tribe) is. Did they all die somewhere out in the Periphery, scrabbling to survive on a harsh and unforgiving world? Or do they lie in wait in the darkness, biding their time to return and exact their revenge against all of their enemies? Or do you roll your eyes and groan "Who cares?" whenever anyone mentions the Wolverines? Let us know.
Whew! I guess that's about it for now. I'm hitting the sack. Talk at you later.
