Red Lancers

A skilled regiment of the Capellan Hussars under General Ral Merik. When Chancellor Duncan Liao attempted to reduce the unit's size by half in July 2451, the Grenadiers, led by General Merik, seized the Chancellor's winter palace on Capella and held him hostage. A Grenadier junta managed the Confederation until February 2452, when Duncan Liao took his own life. In response, Jasmine Liao, Duncan's sister, proclaimed herself Chancellor and ordered the Second Hexare Lancers to deal with the Grenadiers. All offers of surrender were refused, and the regiment was destroyed to a man. As a result of this incident, the 2nd Hexare Lancers became the personal guard of the Chancellor and henceforth were known as the Red Lancers.
